Day 2 - Sennen to Portreath: What a scorcher!

Hot and hilly sums it up!
Thought we'd got lost but the route did take us through The Lost World, complete with giant rhubarb.
Coffee break at Zennor in Chapel
cafe where a fellow tourist kindly donated towards our charity :)
St Ives, with classic Cornish village and Coast views
Bumped into yesterday's Canadians, literally as they were in the middle of the road waving!
It's Cornwall - pasties for lunch, and then Gaviscon for afters.
More stunning views, just breathtaking, sea of wheat complementing the real waves.
And so to bed, after a lovely day - can we keep this up?!

Day 1 - Penzance to Sennen: Finally!

Bright and early - kind of! Heather had to nip out to the post office to sort retrieving passports for the flight home, but that just made it more leisurely! A great start...
At least for a couple of yards, after which we were lost, since Routemaster Gouk had neglected to reprogramme the start point for the YMCA. But again, there were serendipitous results - great empty winding up and down roads, descending into Mousehole, with glorious sun and a blue sea, and a Canadian couple who were keen to discuss cycling and future places to visit.

A trip up the allegedly 2nd steepest hill in Cornwall, followed by more fantastic windy roads, got us to a pub for coffee and a fascinating discussion of helmet vintages. From there a short trip to Land's End, the real start.
Wow. Could it have been a better day?
The short trip to Sennen on the NCN path was idyllic.
Lunch on Sennen sea front, and a steep climb to the B&B!

Nearly off...

It's 23.21 on the Saturday night. Tomorrow I'm off on the 12.30-something from Reading to Penzance, to meet the others to stay at the YMCA (classy!). Exciting! Scarey... It's a heck of a long way, so many pedal twiddles, but hey - an adventure! One sleep.. but who needs sleep??

A huge thanks to all the people who've contributed to the Alzheimer's Society - your generosity is really appreciated. So far we've raised between us over £2000 which is amazing, given we set out with no objective, other than wanting to do the ride, and figuring it would be good to get some sponsors for a good cause. So - thank you!

And for those who didn't contribute yet - it's a Justgiving page - The Big Adventure.

You can still see the LEJOG 2015 Route maps - I moved that one to keep a fresh clean blog with a new entry per day.

More tomorrow...
